- We believe in a strengths-based approach to education where we are challenged to see the competency of every child in a cooperative learning enviroment.
- We believe that each day should be filled with joy in learning, wonder, curiosity, and engaged investigation.
- We believe children need time to acquire skills so they can learn to investigate, invent, and problem solve with complexity.
- We believe the whole child should be nurtured and challenged.
- We believe each child is an individual learner with unique abilities.

|
- To provide an educational experience where children come to believe in themselves, their worth, and their ability to have an impact on the world around them.
- To enable children to see that they are creative, able, critical thinkers.
- For the classroom environment to honor learning styles.
- For the teachers to use a variety of strategies to engage the learner.
- For teachers and families to work together in partnership for the good of the school.

All faculty at i Cento School are certified teachers with at least a four year university degree. Our toddler staff is highly qualified, loving, nurturing and often degreed as well. We strive to create an environment where adults and children come together to play, work, talk, think, and invent. It is through that interaction and stimulation that children make sense of their learning and, therefore, the world around them!
We encourage the children to solve problems while engaged in project work so they learn to take responsibility for their own learning. Teachers act as facilitators of the curriculum and encourage the children to proceed with projects through their individual and group interests. Students are encouraged to develop their own answers to well-thought out, interesting questions.
Thus, through encouragement, we teach the children to think.

i Cento School was founded in 2002 by an exceptional group of individuals who had a vision and a tremendous belief in bringing the Reggio Emilia Approach to our community. The school was named "i Cento" in honor of he poem "The 100 Languages of Children" written by Loris Malaguzzi shortly after World War II. Our school began with two teachers, nine children, and an incredibly dedicated group of families that believed in our vision. Since then, we have grown to over 100 students and 15 faculty and staff members. Our permanent home is situated on over two beautiful acres on River Road where we look forward to a wonderful future teaching the children of New Braunfels and the surrounding communities.

The Philosophy and Curriculum of i Cento |
|

i Cento School's philosophy is based on the project approach from the city of Reggio Emilia, Italy. We strive to unlock the potential in all children by facilitating their work and understanding of topics of interest. We work closely with the children to help them develop exceptional problem solving skills. The students go on "research trips" to gain understanding from "experts" in the field when engaged in project work. We strongly believe that it takes not only teachers, but also parents and the community at large to help children gain insight and understanding in their project work.
In addition, we begin individual reading instruction utilizing the Phono-Graphix® reading program upon enrollment. We continue to read one-on-one with the students daily through elementary grades. Therefore, all children begin reading at their fullest potential when they are ready.
SRA Real Math was adopted in 2007 as our math curriculum of choice beginning in Kindergarten.
